Low Howgill Farm Acommodation
Low Howgill Farm Traditional Beef, Lamb and Pork

Looking after the environment is very important to us, we have planted 2 miles of new hedges, built over 1 mile of dry stone wall and planted 3000 trees. In the midst of our farm is a 20 acre site of ancient woodland and pond which provides a rich habitat for wildlife and native plants.
We consider the environment in all our activities using energy efficient light fittings and wood from the farm for central heating. Our latest development is the installation of a small scale wind turbine to generate electricity for the farm and butchery businesses, this project was helped by grants from RDPE.
About Low Howgill Farm
Low Howgill Farm is a family farm situated at the foot of Cross Fell, the highest peak of the Pennies, looking across the lovely Eden Valley. John and Jane Taylor have farmed here together since their marriage in 1975 continuing the family tradition in agriculture and bringing up their four children in this wonderul corner of Westmorland - now part of Cumbria.
The farm amounts to 700 acres of which 300 are arable, 300 grass and natural pasture and 100 acres of ancient and natural woodland. Beef cattle and sheep are reared and crops include wheat, barley and beans.
Now part of the diversification on the farm include 2 self-catering cottages and bed and breakfast accommodation in the farmhouse. Our latest venture is the retailing of our own superb Shorthorn beef, home produced Suffolk lamb and pork products from locally reared traditional breed pigs.
